Potteryland was founded June 22, 1956, by Donald and Shirley Adam.

That year around metropolitan Detroit, indoor malls were opening up with names like Northland, Eastland, Southland and Westland; so Potteryland seemed like a good fit.

Donald poured a concrete frog in a mold that he learned to make by researching information at the Detroit Public Library. The mold was made in the family kitchen oven.

The frog sold in the front yard of the home where other things were displayed from pottery manufacturing centers in Zanesville, Ohio. In the early days, a small china and gift shop was also on the premises.

Today, Potteryland is owned and operated by Gary and Colleen Adam, and their sons Chad and Troy.

The old house is gone, and the display areas are much larger. Today we offer so many more choices than just pottery and frogs.

Potteryland has become a destination for customers looking for everything in garden ornamentation.
We enjoy meeting third and sometimes fourth generation customers, along with new customers daily.
